New processor, improved performance: The VoiceBridge 2.0 is here!

At the beginning of the Corona pandemic, we at WHD developed the VoiceBridge to improve mutual understanding through the countless acrylic glass panes - a new, hygienic and flexible solution for pharmacies, shops and information desks. The VoiceBridge was a complete success. In the following weeks and months, we gratefully incorporated customer feedback and continuously developed the small, fully automatic intercom system. Most recently, we launched the practical Bluetooth version. Here, a headset replaces the device on the seller's side, allowing staff to move freely in the shop or warehouse while remaining in contact with customers.

VoiceBridge 2.0: New components, new algorithms

However, after more than 20 further developments, the first VoiceBridge reached its technical limits. Therefore, we decided to bundle all our audio experience at WHD and launch a second-generation device: the VoiceBridge 2.0 - more precise, louder and clearer. The result is impressive, and we are very proud of the various technical improvements. With the new processor, there is no longer any delay in the signal processing time, and instead of an analog microphone, two digital microphones now contribute to better understanding via beamforming. Thanks to a larger loudspeaker, speech now sounds much more natural, and thanks to the modified adjustment range, the volume can be set low for very small or open walls, and very loud for completely closed walls.

Optimal noise cancellation and echo compensation

We made further innovations in noise cancellation and echo compensation. Our developers have direct access to all processor functions in the VoiceBridge 2.0, for example, compressor, limiter and DSP. The implemented compressor has been optimally tuned; it amplifies the speech signals of quiet speakers and attenuates those of loud ones. The newly tuned limiter limits the volume of very loud-speaking and very close-standing people, so that no distortions occur. The expander, in turn, suppresses the still minimally present basic noise when no signal is being transmitted, so that the new VoiceBridge is not perceived even in very quiet environments in standby mode. With the DSP, the sound of the VoiceBridge could be optimized despite its very small dimensions, so that speech sounds very natural.
