Professional Audio Solutions for Sports Halls & Gyms

For gymnasiums, multi-purpose halls, and sports centers

Professional sound systems for sports halls & gyms

Clear in speech. Even in sound. Reliable in daily operation.

Audio concepts that reach every corner of the hall

In sports halls, a sound system must meet a variety of requirements.

Announcements should remain intelligible despite high ceilings and long reverberation times. During sporting events and competitions, music must be reproduced powerfully. And in school, club, or multi-purpose halls, the technology must be flexibly adaptable to various usage scenarios.

Professionally planned sound reinforcement ensures that speech and music reach where they are needed.

This means:

✓ clear and intelligible announcements throughout the entire hall area

✓ even sound distribution even over large areas

✓ powerful music playback for training, competition and events

✓ separate sound reinforcement for different hall and adjacent areas

✓ easy operation by teachers, trainers, or authorized personnel

✓ reliable technology for continuous use

High ceilings, large areas, and hard surfaces make sports halls acoustically challenging.

.WHD develops and produces audio solutions that are planned to match the hall size, room geometry, usage, and acoustic conditions.

Whether it's a small school sports hall, a multi-purpose gym, or a large sports center: The focus is on uniform sound, high speech intelligibility, and reliably functioning technology.

Sound that supports your sports hall

From school sports to competition

Why sports halls have special demands on sound reinforcement

Sports and event halls are among the most acoustically demanding buildings.

Large room volumes, high ceilings, and hard surfaces on floors, walls, and ceilings can cause strong reflections and long reverberation times. At the same time, additional noise is generated during sports activities by people, balls, sports equipment, and spectators.

Professional sound system planning therefore considers not only the required volume but, above all:

✓ room size and hall geometry

✓ height and position of the loudspeakers

✓ dispersion characteristics of the loudspeaker systems used

✓ existing acoustic conditions

✓ positions of playing field and spectator areas

✓ various usage scenarios for the hall

Operators, Users and Spectators all Benefit

Ensure intelligible announcements

Instructions, information and organisational announcements must remain clearly intelligible in the designated areas, even during ongoing sporting events.

Effectively accompany events

Music, intermissions and moderation create atmosphere at events and contribute to a professional overall experience.

Targeted sound for different areas

The playing field, grandstand, foyer and all other ancillary rooms can be set up as separate audio zones and controlled individually.

FAQ

Which loudspeakers are suitable for my building?

The appropriate type of loudspeaker depends on the room size, ceiling height, furnishings and desired design. Built-in loudspeakers allow for discreet integration, while wall-mounted loudspeakers are particularly suitable for retrofitting. For high ceilings, pendant or spherical loudspeakers can provide even coverage.

How many loudspeakers are needed for a hall area?

The number cannot be determined solely by the square footage. Room height, floor plan, furnishings, grandstands and the dispersion characteristics of the loudspeakers are all important factors. Professional planning prevents areas that are too loud and acoustic gaps.

Can individual areas be sound-reinforced differently?

Yes. With different sound zones, changing rooms, different hall areas and the foyer can be controlled separately, for example. Depending on the system, volume and audio source can be individually defined for each zone.

Can existing hall concepts be retrofitted with a sound system?

Yes. Different solutions are available for retrofitting.

Can background music and announcements be played through the same system?

Yes. Professional audio solutions can combine music and speech. Announcements can be set up so that the background music automatically fades out or pauses for the duration of the announcement.
