Today, a high-quality sauna is far more than just a place to sweat. It is a refuge from everyday life, a place for regeneration and conscious relaxation.
This is precisely the aspiration of Inua Saunamanufaktur. As the German distributor for Inua Szauna Kft. it offers individually crafted premium saunas that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and timeless design.
Against this background, the decision to address the topic of music in the sauna was only logical. If heat, light, materials and fragrances are already consciously coordinated, it makes sense to also consider the acoustic atmosphere as part of a holistic wellness concept.
Even though the combination of sauna and music has only been sporadically studied scientifically so far, existing findings suggest that the positive effects of both elements can complement each other effectively. Together, they can help to reduce stress, promote physical well-being and allow the mind to relax more easily.
But what is this assumption based on? In fact, researchers have been studying the effects of music on body and mind for many years. Even though the combination of music and sauna has rarely been the subject of scientific investigations so far, there are numerous findings on how music can influence relaxation, stress management and general well-being.
Music is no longer just used for entertainment. It is also used in healthcare and relaxation methods. Scientific investigations deal, among other things, with the question of whether listening to music can help to regulate stress reactions and to relax more quickly after stressful situations.
A systematic review with meta-analysis on healthy adults concludes that listening to music can support recovery after stress. The studies examined showed positive effects on various psychological and physical stress parameters, although the results varied depending on the music, experimental situation and measurement method.¹
An experimental study with 60 healthy female participants also suggests that relaxing music can positively influence the recovery of the autonomic nervous system after a stressful situation.²
Previous research suggests that calming music can, among other things:
That many people use a sauna for similar reasons is shown by the international study "A Hot Topic for Health: Results of the Global Sauna Survey". Among the most important motives of the respondents were relaxation and stress reduction. In addition, 83.5% reported positive effects on their sleep after using the sauna. Since this is a survey, these results reflect personal experiences and are not to be equated with clinical proof of efficacy.³
The direct combination of sauna and music has so far been little researched. However, the existing knowledge from both areas suggests that warmth and a consciously designed sound atmosphere can offer different approaches to relaxation. While the sauna supports the body in regeneration, calming music can help to reduce stress and allow the mind to relax more easily.
The idea was convincing – but the implementation was challenging.
In a sauna, temperatures often reach 80 °C or more, along with high humidity. At the same time, the natural wood look should be completely preserved. Visible loudspeakers, plastic housings or technical installations hardly fit into a high-quality premium sauna.
In addition, there are the special requirements for the technology used. Not every loudspeaker is suitable for use in this environment or can be permanently and harmoniously integrated.
Together with WHD, Inua Saunamanufaktur therefore opted for an audio solution that integrates almost invisibly into the sauna design.
The WHD Premium sound system with so-called tactile transducers (exciters) is used. They are invisibly mounted behind suitable wooden surfaces and set them into subtle vibrations. This turns the wooden surface itself into a sound body – completely without visible loudspeakers. The high-quality design of the sauna is completely preserved.
Music can then be conveniently streamed via Bluetooth from a smartphone or tablet. Whether it's nature sounds, calming instrumental music or a personal relaxation playlist – the sound atmosphere can be individually adapted to your sauna session.
To make this form of sauna experience tangible, the Inua Saunamanufaktur and WHD are offering a joint special promotion from August 1st to August 31st, 2026.
All orders for indoor and outdoor saunas received during this period will be equipped with integrated WHD Premium sound at no extra charge.
This gives customers the opportunity to experience for themselves how warmth, high-quality craftsmanship and a harmoniously integrated sound atmosphere can combine to create a holistic wellness experience.
