For years, the VoiceBridge from WHD has been used as an easy-to-install intercom system for pharmacies, doctor's offices, clinics, public authorities, and service areas with protective glazing. A current reference project now shows that the compact communication solution is also suitable for mobile applications – for example, in X-ray vehicles for mobile baggage handling at airports.
This opens up a new area of application for the VoiceBridge, which is particularly interesting for manufacturers of special vehicles and mobile control systems.
The vehicles used are specially converted vans based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. They are primarily deployed at airports and enable flexible baggage control there.
The vehicles have sliding doors on both the driver's and passenger's sides. Between these is an integrated X-ray scanner: baggage is loaded on one side of the vehicle, scanned inside the vehicle during transit, and then removed on the opposite side.
In the rear of the vehicle, there is a secured operator room. An employee monitors the entire scanning and handling process there and checks the generated X-ray images. Therefore, clear communication between the operator, driver's area, and external personnel is crucial for a smooth process.
This is exactly where the VoiceBridge comes into play as an intercom system. It enables direct and reliable communication between separate work areas – without complicated system integration.
The VoiceBridge can be easily mounted on suitable surfaces, or as in this example, via a housing, and integrated into existing vehicle concepts.
Depending on the version, wired variants, a Bluetooth version with headset, or a combined solution are available. This allows the communication solution to be flexibly adapted to different vehicle designs and work processes.
Particularly relevant for use in special vehicles are technical functions such as Noise Reduction, Acoustic Echo Cancellation, automatic calibration, and duplex communication. This allows simultaneous speaking and listening without disruptive echoes or feedback. This supports quick coordination during ongoing operations and helps to keep workflows efficient.
BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH draws a positive conclusion:
"The VoiceBridge has proven itself as a practical communication solution in our vehicles. It integrates well into the vehicle and supports direct, reliable communication between the driver and work area. The collaboration with the manufacturer is always constructive and solution-oriented."
The project shows: The WHD VoiceBridge is not only a proven intercom system for stationary applications but also an interesting solution for mobile use. Wherever people are separated by vehicle structures, partitions, or security areas, the VoiceBridge can ensure clear voice communication.
For vehicle manufacturers, AV outfitters, and system integrators, the VoiceBridge thus offers a compact, professional, and field-tested intercom solution.
