PREAMP 55 UP, white - Preamplifier with DESYM module

The WHD Preamp 55 with DESYM is the ideal solution when your audio source is installed further away from the amplifier - for example, a TV in a training room and the amplifier in the equipment room. The Preamp 55 ensures that the audio signal (RCA / Line) from the TV, microphone receiver, streaming player, or other source is reliably transmitted via a CAT cable (CAT5 / CAT6 / CAT7) to the amplifier – cleanly, stably, and up to 100 m away.

Line Signal Extension Instead of Short RCA Cables

In many installations, audio sources are only a few meters away from the amplifier – however, in practice, a classic RCA connection is usually only useful up to approx. 10 meters. The Preamp 55 provides a professional solution with a range of up to 100 m.

How the WHD Preamp 55 with DESYM works (simply explained)

The set consists of a built-in preamplifier and a suitable transmission module:

1. Connect audio source (Line Out via RCA)
An audio source with a line output is connected to the Preamp 55 via RCA – e.g., TV, wireless microphone receiver, music player, or streaming device.

Important: Only one signal source can be connected to the Preamp 55. It is not possible to connect, for example, a TV and a wireless microphone receiver in parallel – it is either an audio source or a microphone receiver.

2. Amplify signal and transmit via CAT cable
The Preamp 55 amplifies the audio signal of the connected audio source (level increase to approx. 5 V) and then reliably transmits it via a CAT cable (CAT5 / CAT6 / CAT7) to the DESYM module at the technical location – ideal for long cable runs.

4. DESYM module reduces the signal again
From there, the signal goes directly into the amplifier's Line In via RCA. The DESYM module can ideally be mounted in a 19" rack. It is powered by the supplied plug-in power supply. The Preamp 55 does not require its own power supply – it conveniently receives its voltage via the CAT cable connected to the DESYM module.

Ideal for TV audio, wireless microphones with line output, and remote players

The WHD Preamp 55 is particularly suitable for applications where audio sources or wireless microphones with line output are installed far away:

• for larger rooms

• longer cable runs

• Sound systems with central amplifier technology (e.g., 19" rack)

This makes the Preamp 55 a practical and visually clean solution for professional indoor installations.

Compatibility / Connections

Volume is controlled:

• via the audio source (remote control, touch, player control)

• or directly via the amplifier

Installation: Flush-mounted in 55 series switch program

The Preamp 55 is designed for installation in a standard flush-mounted box. This allows for elegant and discreet installation – matching common switch programs.

A suitable 55 x 55 mm frame (depending on the switch series) is available for the cover from specialist electrical wholesalers.
